The University honored Fernando Leon García, President of the CETYS University, Mexico

30.10.2017

At the ceremonial meeting of the Academic Council of the University of Finance and Administration on Friday, October 20, 2017, dr. Fernando León García, the president of our partner institution CETYS University, was granted the honorary degree Doctor Honoris Causa for an extraordinary contribution to the internationalization of higher education.
The ceremony was attended by many guests, including the Mexican Ambassador Leonora Rueda, several rectors from other universities, representatives of academic and non-academic staff and students of VŠFS. In addition to the introductory speech of Rector Bohuslava Šenkýřová, the laudatio speech was delivered by Vice-Rector Petr Budinský. He emphasized the long-term cooperation with Dr. Fernando León, which has been in place since 2004, when he – as Executive Vice-President for Academic Affairs – was responsible for cooperation with foreign universities in the MBA and BSBA programs. Mutual contacts were not interrupted even after 2010, when he became President of CETYS, one of the most important Mexican universities. Fernando León Garcia is also a prominent personality in the International Association of University Presidents.
This was also confirmed by his lecture on Internationalization of Higher Education, which will be published in one of the following editions of the University Magazine Xadonia.
For Fernando and his wife, Claudia, the University prepared an interesting accompanying program, including a visit to the VŠFS Campus, the Wonder Schools and the Bank Academy, which are part of the Partnership of Schools.
