VŠFS becomes an active member of the consortium for the access to Proquest Central database

Since autumn 2013, the University of Finance and Administration has had an access to multi-field full-text database of research articles - Proquest Central. The access has been provided through the consortium project at MŠMT „Information - Research Base“, which is covered by the University of Economics.

This access under most favourable terms has been allowed after obtaining the status of a Research organization, awarded to us by the Research, Development and Innovation Council in 2012, which was confirmed this year again.

VŠFS Centre of Librarian Services obtained statistical data about the access to Proquest Central for 2014, also for all involved institutions.

After the evaluation of these data we can observe that VŠFS is an active member of the consortium; activities of our users exceed e.g. the number of access entries from the Silesian University or ŠKODA Auto VŠ.

We are respectable team-mates of much bigger institutions, such as Municipal Library of Prague, Moravian Library in Brno, National Medical Library; as for the number of downloaded articles we even keep up with the much bigger Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague. The enclosed table presents relevant parameters.

The database is plentifully used by our staff for scientific-research or pedagogical activities as well as by our students for the preparation of their diploma theses.

We can thus observe that the database is thoroughly used considering the size of our school and the invested funds are surely worth it.
