Good news from the world of research

23.01.2015

January brought us a few events that had positive impact on the research at VŠFS. Our magazine ACTA re-appeared on the list of reviewed non-impact periodicals; we have sustained the status of a research organization and obtained special-purpose subsidy for a specific academic research totalling CZK 1.4 Mio. for 2015.

VŠFS ACTA Magazine

In January 2015, research magazine ACTA VŠFS re-appeared on the list of reviewed non-impact periodicals run by the Research, Development and Innovation Council (RVVI). It happened after one-year elimination from the list against which we had appealed, and our appeal was accepted. The membership on this list means that the articles in our magazine are accepted as publications that can be included in the Information Register on the research outputs (RIV). According to RIV entries, the research organizations, which also include VŠFS, are evaluated when being granted the state subsidy for research. These so-called reviewed articles are also important for the publication work of the academic staff in terms of their career advancement.

VŠFS as a research organization

The RVVI meeting in December, the conclusions of which were released in mid-January 2015, reached a conclusion that VŠFS can sustain the status of a research organization which had been obtained at the beginning of 2012. In other words, it means that we are considered „a subject“ which aims to carry out basic research, applied research or experimental development and to widely present the results in class, through publication work or technology transfer“. This status allows our university to apply for the so-called special-purpose subsidy for a specific academic research and the so-called institutionalized support of a long-term conceptual development. Out of private universities, only eight others obtained this status.

Subsidy for a specific academic research

In mid-January 2015, the Ministry of Education informed us about the decision to re-grant the so-called special-purpose subsidy for a specific academic research. The subsidy for 2015 totals CZK 1.4 Mio., while last year it was CZK 1.3 Mio. These funds will be spent mainly on research activities of the students of Master´s and Doctoral study programmes through research projects. Early February, the Science and Research Department will announce a call for applications. Out of private universities, only three others were granted this subsidy: Metropolitní univerzita, Univerzita J. A. Komenského and Škoda Auto Vysoká škola.
